Man, I don't think anybody really saw this (see link below) coming...

It makes me depressed and worried, because with this resignation and the likely possiblity of Rehnquist's resignation, Bush may get to fill two Supreme Court vacancies. It also makes me angry about the election all over again. Why in God's name did we have to elect this bozo again? Sigh...

O'Connor's resignation is particularly important since she was a swing vote on women's rights and abortion issues. I just really hope the Democrats grow a pair and use that newly saved filibuster for all it's worth to keep Bush from nominating some conservative nutjob.
